Cell Culture Matrix

A cell culture matrix is a biomimetic environment designed to support the growth, organization, and function of cells in vitro. Unlike traditional 2D culture surfaces, these matrices mimic key properties of the extracellular matrix (ECM), providing both structural support and essential biochemical cues that influence cell behavior. By enabling 3D cell growth, they allow researchers to better replicate in vivo conditions and obtain more physiologically relevant results.

Today, many cell culture matrices are based on hydrogels, highly tunable materials that can be adapted in terms of stiffness, porosity, and composition to match specific applications. Altium offers an advanced hydrogel-based solution, peptide-based matrices from PepGel, designed to deliver defined, reproducible, and cytocompatible environments for a wide range of cell culture workflows.
